Software Development for Robotics & Industrial Automation

From robot control via SCADA systems to AI-powered predictive maintenance – we digitise your production plants.

Industry 4.0 cast in software

Modern manufacturing plants are complex, connected systems that require reliable and maintainable software. BitPointer GmbH develops control software for robots and plants, SCADA systems for process monitoring, visualisation HMIs and intelligent predictive maintenance solutions – all from a single source, with deep understanding of industrial requirements.

Robot control software (ROS 2, proprietary systems, cobot integration)
PLC programming (IEC 61131-3: ST, FBD, LD) & safety PLCs
SCADA systems & real-time process monitoring
HMI development with Qt/QML for operator panels & visualisation
Predictive maintenance: anomaly detection & failure forecasts (AI)
MES integration & connection to ERP systems (SAP, etc.)

Your advantages with BitPointer

Real-time capability

Industrial automation requires deterministic real-time systems. We develop software for real-time operating systems (RTOS, Linux RT) that reliably meet cycle times in the microsecond range.

Predictive maintenance & AI

With ML algorithms we detect anomalies in sensor data before failures occur. Our predictive maintenance solutions demonstrably reduce unplanned downtime and lower maintenance costs.

Intuitive HMI interfaces

With Qt/QML we develop high-performance, engaging operator interfaces for control panels and visualisation systems – including for touchscreens and embedded hardware.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about robotics & automation software

Yes. We have experience with the control systems and SDKs of major robot manufacturers. For cross-vendor solutions we rely on ROS 2 (Robot Operating System), which provides a standardised interface for different robot brands. We also develop middleware layers that abstract proprietary robot APIs.

SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) monitors and controls real-time processes at the field level – sensors, actuators, PLCs. MES (Manufacturing Execution System) manages production planning, order control and quality assurance at a higher level. Both systems complement each other and communicate via standardised interfaces. We develop both and connect them to ERP solutions.

Sensor data (vibration, temperature, current, pressure) are continuously captured and analysed with ML models. These models learn a machine’s “normal” behaviour and detect deviations early. Possible methods include anomaly detection (Isolation Forest, autoencoder), remaining useful life (RUL) prediction and fault classification. Results are shown in a dashboard or as an alarm in the SCADA system.

For safety-relevant functions (emergency stop, access protection, collision avoidance) standards such as IEC 62061, ISO 13849 and IEC 61508 apply. Safety functions are implemented on certified safety PLCs or safety controllers. We consider functional safety already in the requirements analysis and support risk assessment according to the Machinery Directive.

Yes, brownfield projects are often a focus. We analyse existing plants, identify retrofit options (e.g. edge gateways, additional sensors) and create digital twins without interrupting production. Older PLCs can also be connected via OPC-UA adapters or serial gateways.
