Embedded Software with Qt/QML and C++

High-performance embedded systems, modern HMI interfaces and robust IoT platforms – nationwide from concept to series production.

Embedded Expertise with C++ and Qt/QML

Embedded software demands system understanding, hardware proximity and solid C++ architecture. BitPointer brings over 25 years of project experience in industrial embedded systems – HMI development with Qt/QML, robust C++ implementation and IoT integration for manufacturers and mid-sized companies in Germany.

HMI development with Qt/QML (Embedded & Desktop)
C/C++ embedded software (Bare Metal, RTOS, Embedded Linux)
Cross-platform development (Linux, Windows, QNX, FreeRTOS)
IoT integration & sensor connectivity
Smart building monitoring & control
Board Support Packages (BSP) & driver development

Qt/QML – Modern HMI for Embedded Systems

BitPointer develops Qt/QML interfaces not only visually, but with clean C++ architecture and a clear separation of UI, business logic and data layer. The result is maintainable, testable and performant embedded applications – even under resource-constrained conditions.

Modern UI Design

Qt/QML enables pixel-perfect, animated user interfaces even on resource-constrained embedded systems. Design and logic are cleanly separated – maintainable and extensible.

Performance on Embedded Hardware

Qt runs efficiently on ARM processors, Raspberry Pi, i.MX platforms and industrial boards. We optimise for low-power systems without compromising the UI.

Cross-Platform without Extra Effort

One codebase, many platforms: Linux, Windows, macOS, QNX. Qt significantly reduces development time and maintenance effort.

FAQ

Questions about embedded development

Qt offers a unique combination of performance, cross-platform support and the modern QML declarative language. Qt Quick uses GPU-accelerated rendering (OpenGL/Vulkan), enabling smooth animations even on ARM-based embedded systems. The clean separation of QML UI and C++ logic makes applications maintainable and testable. Compared with web technologies (Electron etc.), Qt is significantly lighter and more real-time capable. Alternatives such as LVGL or GTK are weaker in design capability; Java-based solutions are too heavy for many embedded targets.

We have experience with ARM Cortex-A/M, NXP i.MX series, Raspberry Pi (CM4/5), TI Sitara, STM32, ESP32 as well as industrial boards. We also help with hardware selection if you are at the start of a project.

For safety-critical systems (medical: IEC 62304, automotive: ISO 26262, industrial: IEC 61508) we develop according to the relevant standards: complete documentation, risk analysis (FMEA), MISRA-C++ compliance, formal verification and certified testing.

Yes, we regularly take over existing projects from other teams or manufacturers. We start with a code review and prepare a status assessment (technical debt, risks, improvement potential) before continuing development.

Yes. Yocto/OpenEmbedded is our standard for Embedded Linux images. We create custom BSPs, integrate Qt into the Yocto build, optimise image size and boot time, and set up CI/CD pipelines for automated embedded builds.

Yes. We analyse QML structures, bindings, JavaScript portions, C++ interfaces, data models and UI performance. From this we derive concrete refactoring and optimisation measures – from moving logic into C++ and cleaning up uncontrolled bindings to introducing clean data models.
