Why BitPointer for AgriTech?

Geospatial data processing

Precision farming requires processing large volumes of geodata: satellite and drone imagery, soil maps, GPS trajectories. We use GIS frameworks (GDAL, PostGIS, GeoTIFF) and cloud-based image processing for fast, precise analysis.

IoT & connectivity

Rural areas often have limited connectivity. We build IoT solutions that also work with LoRaWAN, NB-IoT or satellite connectivity and buffer data offline, then sync when a connection is available.

Practical software

Software for farmers must work in the field: mobile, offline-capable and intuitive. We design practical interfaces that can be operated on a tablet even with work gloves.

FAQ

Common questions about AgriTech & agriculture software

Precision farming means site-specific management of agricultural land based on geodata: satellite and drone imagery show where plants grow well or poorly; sensor data provide soil and climate information. Software turns this data into application maps that control seeders, fertilizer spreaders and crop protection equipment. Core components are a GIS, a sensor data platform, an analytics backend and a cab app.

Multispectral drones capture reflectance values in the visible and near-infrared range. From this data we calculate vegetation indices such as NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), which indicate plant vitality, water supply and stress. Computer-vision algorithms automatically detect damage, lodged grain or pest infestation. Results are output as georeferenced maps.

In rural areas with limited connectivity, LoRaWAN (long range, low power, affordable hardware) suits soil moisture and climate sensors. NB-IoT offers broader coverage via mobile networks. For mobile machines with higher data needs, LTE/5G makes sense. Satellite IoT (Starlink, Iridium) also reaches remote fields. We choose the protocol by range, data volume, battery life and cost.

Modern ML models for yield forecasting combine satellite data (vegetation indices), weather data (historical and forecast), soil maps and historical harvest data. With enough training data these models reach 85–95% prediction accuracy at field level. Accuracy improves with more training years and better input data. After 2–3 seasons the models already deliver practical forecasts.

Yes. We build farm management software that captures all data required for field records under German and EU rules: activity logs, fertilization plans (DüV-compliant), crop protection documentation and field GIS data in ALKIS format. Export to common formats for InVeKoS applications (Bavaria: INVEKOS database, NRW: eAntrag) is integrated.
